Diving in Waiara /Maumere Bay on Flores Island

The main attraction in Flores is diving in the Flores Sea especially in the Bay of Maumere. According to professionals, this bay has all characteristics of one of the best diving grounds in the world, due to its diversity of marine life.

Walls and slope develop after the tsunami and both hard and soft corals are growing and even more beautiful then before tsunami.

Mr. Rudie Kuiter in a two-week survey in 1987 listed 850 species in 82 families, and he expected to discover still many new species, which are new to science.

Sea World Club Hotel operates a dive centre. We have complete diving and snorkeling gears. And our dive master and dive guide can arrange boat trip to the dive sites.

There are more than 40 dive spots in Maumere Bay. Our favorite dive spots are Pasir Sari, Pulau Besar, Pengabatang and Waiterang (wrack/Japan). There are variety of corals and beautiful fish and it is possible to see sharks, mantas, dolphins, stings and any others marine life.
